Zeiss glasses – looking after your glasses

Take good care of your glasses and they’ll last longer.

Here are a few tips on how best to look after your glasses

  • Use both hands when putting on and taking off your glasses.
  • Always store your glasses in a hard case when you are not using them. If you do put them down without the case, remember to always place them with the lenses facing upwards.
  • Please don’t adjust your glasses yourself – let us help you with that.
  • Avoid exposing your glasses to heat, as this can damage both the lenses and the frames. For example, never take them into the sauna. Be careful when opening the oven door, and do not leave them in the car on a hot summer’s day.
  • Harsh products such as hair dye and hairspray can discolour or damage your glasses.

Cleaning glasses

  • Dust and dirt can cause small scratches and damage the glass. You should therefore wipe the glass daily with a microfibre cloth. Avoid using paper, towels or clothing, as these can cause scratches.
  • Once or twice a week, you should give your glasses a more thorough clean using running water (cold or lukewarm) and, if necessary, a little mild washing-up liquid. Avoid cleaning products that contain ammonia, silicone or abrasives. Do not use soap either, as it often contains grease. Do give our smart cleaning wipes or cleaning spray a try – they’re available in-store. Wipe with a soft cloth or let the glasses drip dry on a piece of kitchen roll. For best results, finish off with a clean, dry microfibre cloth.
