Have you ever tried Mykita?
If not, we can highly recommend them. They are handcrafted glasses and sunglasses from Berlin. Unique in both design and functionality.
Hultins Optik was one of the first shops in Sweden to stock Mykita glasses, and it’s not hard to become a ‘Mykita fan’. They’re unique in both design and innovation. For example, you’ll find extremely lightweight frames, 3D-printed frames and temples that are completely screw-free. Once you’ve owned a pair, it can be hard to switch to anything else – something we recognise all too well from our customers in the shop.
The company was founded in 2003 and is based in the hipster district of Kreuzberg in Berlin. All frames are assembled by hand and all manufacturing takes place in their own factory in Berlin. Having visited them, we’re impressed by the manufacturing process and the quality of the frames.
The name Mykita comes from the German word for nursery (kindertagesstätte), which is commonly referred to as ‘Kita’. The premises where the company began its operations were, in fact, a “Kita”. In 2004, Mykita launched its first metal collection, “Collection No. 1”, which was made from stainless steel without hinges, screws or soldered joints.
In 2018, the limited-edition “Mykita for Hultins” collection was also launched. It comprised four models in three colours and was sold exclusively at Hultins Optik. Here you’ll find glasses and a selection of sunglasses from the brand.
